6th Day - Tarxien Temples

After the visit to the Ecohive Academy, we reached Paola, where we visited the Prehistoric Temples of Tarxien.

They are a complex of four megalithic temples located in Ħal Tarxien, Malta, dating back to the recent Neolithic, between 3250 and 2500 BC. Discovered in 1914 during agricultural work, they were excavated between 1915 and 1919 by Themistocles Zammit, director of the National Museum of Archeology in Valletta. In 1956, the site was restored, with the original carved stones transferred to the museum to preserve its integrity. In 1992, UNESCO recognised the Tarxien Temples as a World Heritage Site, emphasising their historical and cultural importance.
